السّبعينيّة “فاطمة” هي واحدة من آلاف النّساء التونسيات “البرباشة” اللاتي أجبرتهن الحاجة على امتهان النبش في القمامة والنفايات المنزلية بحثا عمّا يصلح للرسكلة وإعادة الاستخدام من قوارير بلاستيك وبقايا أوعية.
وتمثل النّساء ثلث عدد “البرباشة” في تونس المقدر بـ 70 ألف، جميعهن تشتغلن بشكل عشوائي وتتقاسمن هشاشة مركبة تشكّله ثلاثية الاستغلال الاقتصادي، والمخاطر الصحية التي يسببها احتكاكهن المباشر بالنفايات، واصطدامهن بمنافسيهن من الذكور.
رحلة نبش خطرة واكبتها “الكتيبة” في هذا البورتريه الذي يختزل قصصا من المعاناة والاستغلال والميز الجندري، يغذّيها صمت رسمي عن هيكلة هذا القطاع في بلد ينتج سنويا حوالي 2.6 مليون طن من النفايات المنزلية.
« Fatma » a woman in her seventies is one of thousands of Tunisian women waste pickers for whom need obliged them to work as pickers sifting through discarded household waste and garbage searching for things to be recycled and reused such as plastic bottles and remnant containers.
Women represent one third of 70 thousand trash pickers in Tunisia. All of them work randomly and share compounded vulnerability caused by the triad of economic exploitation and health risks caused by their direct contact with waste and potential conflict with male competitors.
Alqatiba undertook a risky journey of « Trash picking » in this portrait which comprises stories of suffering, exploitation and gender discrimination, all fed by the official silence about structuring this sector in a country that produces about 2.6 million tons of household trash annually.
